Julia Bleecher's Brandy Alexander

A classic cocktail from the first half of the 20th century featuring cognac and cr�me de cacao. Ours is inspired by Moonlighter Art Salo story about his grandmother. Back in the 1920's, Mrs. Bleecher invited her pastor for dinner and she decided to make vanilla ice cream. As she was reaching for the vanilla, she mistakenly grabbed a bottle of brandy and poured some into her mix. After she finished freezing the ice cream in an old hand crank ice cream freezer, she tasted the ice cream and realized her mistake, but by then it was too late. Hoping the pastor would be so unfamiliar with the taste of brandy, she decided to serve it anyway after dinner. The pastor declared that he had never tasted such delicious vanilla ice cream.
